Project Info
250sqm indoor play
The French School in Jakarta sought our expertise to design a playground that would uniquely represent the spirit of Jakarta within the primary school facilities. In response to this creative challenge, we formulated a distinctive concept that would resonate with the local culture and ignite the imaginations of the young students.
Our vision was to bring the essence of Jakarta's bustling and vibrant urban life to the playground. We decided to pay homage to two iconic modes of transportation that have played a significant role in the city's history: the "Kopaja" bus and the "Bajai" three-wheeled vehicle. These vehicles have not only been integral to the city's transportation network but have also held a special place in the hearts of Jakartans.
o bring these iconic vehicles to life within the playground, we designed life-sized replicas that would serve as more than just static structures. Each of these remarkable creations featured movable play steering wheels and indicators, providing children with an interactive and dynamic play experience that encouraged exploration and creativity.
In terms of construction, we utilized a combination of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) boards, robust steel structures, and wood composite materials. This choice ensured that the playground equipment was not only visually appealing but also durable and safe for children to enjoy.
The "Kopaja" bus and "Bajai" three-wheeler, with their engaging features and authentic design, became not only a source of fun and amusement but also an educational tool. They allowed the students to connect with their local heritage and understand the significance of these vehicles in the context of Jakarta's history and culture.
